I provide 1 to 2 visits with you before your baby arrives. We will discuss the scope of doula service, and develop a plan on how to handle pain management. We will practice labor and birth positions, and discuss hw best to work together as a birth team with your provider.
When you contact me at the onset of labor, together we will decide when and where it is best to join you, at home or the hospital. I provide continuous support for you and your husband/support person during labor and delivery. In the case of a C-Section I will support your husband/support person and the baby until you are out of recovery. After the baby is born I will remain with you until breastfeeding is established and you are comfortable with me leaving. This is usually 1 to 3 hours.
I provide 1 to 2 postpartum visits to make sure that feeding is going well, and that mom and baby are doing well. I also provide lactation support at this time. This is a great time to talk about your birth experience, and answer any questions that you may have.
After contracting my services I am available to support my clients at anytime by Phone * Text * Email. see my contact mage for this information.

Birth Pools are a great comfort measure encouraged by midwives for home births. I have 1 birth pool for rent, so reserve it well in advance if you are planning a water birth. I offer birth pool rentals in Rapid City, Eastern Wyoming and the Black Hills.
Research shows using water in childbirth has great benefits. It provides natural comfort and helps in relaxation in a time that can be hard to relax. Many Midwives encourage the use of birth pools in labor. Some hospitals have birthing pools, however in the Northern Black Hills area, homebirth is the only waterbirth option. Reserve your birth pool well in advance of your due date as there is limited pool availability.
Warm water has been called the "Liquid Epidural"
*Water reduces a woman’s inhibitions toward giving birth by diminishing catecholamines, the stress hormones.
* Water allows women to enter a different, more primitive level of consciousness.
* Water promotes relaxation, especially if the room is semi-dark and sounds are reduced.
* Water makes contractions more effective and less painful, thereby shortening labor."
